About This Event
The Federation of Indian Communities of Queensland (FICQ) brings one of Queensland's largest and most vibrant Diwali celebrations to King George Square in the Brisbane CBD on Friday 6 November 2026, from 11:00 AM to 10:00 PM.
FICQ describes it as a spectacular day celebrating the Festival of Lights, with cultural performances, live entertainment, Indian cuisine, market stalls, family-friendly activities, in its own words, a vibrant celebration of unity, diversity and community. Brisbane City Council, which supports the event, adds: Diwali, traditionally observed over five days, symbolises the triumph of light over darkness, good over evil, and hope over despair.
Entry is free and no bookings are required. FICQ is the umbrella body for more than 33 Indian community organisations in Queensland and has run its Diwali celebration in the CBD since 2010. Performer registrations, stall opportunities and the full programme are released closer to the date - stalls, cultural performances, sponsorship.
