Pick your visa subclass and city to see the admin to set up after you arrive, in the order each step unlocks the next. Every step links to the official source. Your ticks are saved on this device, and you can copy a link to share your checklist.

Your visa grant notice lists the conditions that apply — work rights, study, health-insurance and stay-period conditions. These are set by the Department of Home Affairs and are the same for everyone on the subclass.
Australian telcos must verify your identity before activating a prepaid SIM. A local number is used for banking-app logins, one-time passwords, and as a contact number on most forms, so it comes first.
Banks open a transaction account with your passport and an Australian residential address. An account is needed before salary can be paid and before you link a Tax File Number, so it sits early in the sequence.
TFN applications open after arrival, once you are in Australia on a visa with work rights. The ATO posts the TFN to an Australian address, so you need somewhere to receive mail first. It can take up to 28 days to arrive.
When you start work your employer contributes to a super fund. The fund applies extra tax on contributions until you provide your TFN, so this step follows once your TFN has arrived.
Eligibility for Medicare comes from your visa, not your nationality — India has no reciprocal health care agreement with Australia. Holders of this subclass can generally enrol using their passport and proof of their visa status. Enrolling in person gives an interim number the same day.
A myGov account links the ATO, Medicare and Centrelink online once you have those. Set it up after those services exist so there is something to link to.
A CRN is only needed to claim a Centrelink payment or service, such as Family Tax Benefit or Child Care Subsidy. Newly arrived residents face waiting periods for many payments; the published rules and any waiting period are set out by Services Australia.
Each state gives a fixed window to drive on an overseas licence before converting. India is not on the mutual-recognition list, so a knowledge and practical test is generally required regardless of how long you have held your Indian licence.
New South Wales gives permanent residents about 3 months to convert.
Once the essentials are set up, local groceries, temples, services and events help you settle in. The India.com.au city pages and directory list Indian community places and what is on.
These steps summarise the published procedures. For the detail behind each one — costs, timings, and the details specific to arrivals from India — read the full guide.
