About This Event
Learn, dance and connect at Garba Social Perth - a relaxed Garba evening for Perth's Gujarati and Indian community, beginner-friendly, social and full of Navratri vibes. Friday 18 September 2026, 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Currambine Community Centre.
The evening is a guided 1.5-hour session of Garba, music, dancing, connection and a community potluck. Host Shruti Pithadia guides participants through simple Garba steps and sequences, with plenty of time spent actually dancing together. This is not a formal dance class and it is not about being the best dancer in the room - whether you have been doing Garba since childhood or are completely new to it, no previous experience and no partner are needed.
What to expect: beginner-friendly Garba with simple steps everyone can follow; Garba music and dancing; the chance to meet other Gujarati and Indian people in Perth; and a community potluck. Attendees are invited to bring a small vegetarian Gujarati or Indian snack or sweet to share - think dhokla, khandvi, fafda, thepla bites, handvo, samosa, farsan, chaat or Indian sweets. The food table is strictly 100% vegetarian, and packaged biscuits, wafers and chips are asked to be left at home.
Ages 16+ only. Come solo, with friends, or with family members aged 16 and over. Bookings open on 31 August 2026 at 7:00 PM.
