Rafta, Rafta… Ayub Khan-Din's English Award Winner

Rafta, Rafta… is Ayub Khan-Din's hilarious and touching English comedy, adapted from Bill Naughton's 1963 play 'All In Good Time'. Khan-Din transplants Naughton's working-class world into the heart of a migrant Indian family: a young newlywed couple find themselves unable to consummate their marriage, and with meddling relatives interfering at every turn what follows is a storm of sharp wit and the particular chaos only a close-knit family can produce. Beneath the laughter there is genuine heart. The play has previously been staged at the National Theatre in London and on Broadway.

This is an amateur production by Perth's Encore Productions, presented by arrangement with ORiGiN Theatrical on behalf of Nick Hern Books, and directed by Biswajit Munshi. The cast is Sanjiv Manchanda, Nidhi Wilson, Dilip Ajwani, Bindiya Manchanda, Aryan Menon, Richa Vinod, Mit Singh Uppal, Shilpa Tambi, Deepak Balachandirane and Yagnesh Rajendran. The season runs at Nexus Theatre inside Murdoch University's South Street campus, with three sessions: Friday 21 August at 7:00 PM, and Saturday 22 August at 2:30 PM and 7:00 PM. The play is intended for mature audiences aged 15 and above and parental guidance is required. Booking is through TryBooking; the season has sold out and the only option now is the online wait list, from which the organiser will make contact if seats become available.
