About This Event
Artists Murthovic and Thiruda lead 'Elsewhere in India', a collaborative electronica and transmedia project uniting artists, technologists and cultural preservationists. Their multidisciplinary team merges digital art, traditional Indian performing arts, new media and cultural studies, using game engines, motion capture and AI to craft vivid realms where cultural legacy meets South Asian Futurist worldbuilding. Their mission is to reimagine cultural narratives that bridge India's past with hopeful, speculative futures.
Their work has been shown internationally, including at MUTEK Montreal, the Barbican, Sheffield DocFest, the BFI London Film Festival, ACMI, CPH:DOX, OzAsia and Adelaide Fringe.
Supported by an IAS Visiting Fellowship, the artists are in residence at UWA's Berndt Museum, where they are looking at reactivating historic collections from India, and are working with animation students at the UWA School of Design. Registration is free.
