About This Event

About the Festival

Boishakhi Mela is Sydney's premier Bengali New Year festival, celebrating Pohela Boishakh — the first day of the Bengali calendar year. Organised annually by Bangabandhu Council Australia, the event brings together thousands of Bengali Australians at Fairfield Showground for a vibrant day of cultural performances, traditional music, dance, and community gathering.

What to Expect

The festival features a packed programme of live entertainment including Bengali folk and modern music, classical and contemporary dance performances, children's activities, and a curry festival showcasing authentic Bengali cuisine. Attendees are encouraged to wear traditional attire as part of the celebrations.

A Community Tradition

Boishakhi Mela has become one of the largest Bengali cultural events in Australia, attracting families and community members from across Greater Sydney for a day of celebration, food, and cultural pride.
