Ganesh Puja and Bali Tritiya at Shree Jagannatha Temple Sydney

Shree Jagannatha Temple Sydney, run by Shree Jagannatha Consciousness ANZ, marks Ganesh Puja (Ganesh Chaturthi) followed by Bali Tritiya on Monday 14 September 2026 at its Castle Hill temple.

Ganesh Puja celebrates the birth of Lord Ganesha, the elephant-headed son of Shiva and Parvati and the remover of obstacles. Clay idols of Ganesha are installed and worshipped for a period of one to ten days before being immersed in water, and special modak offerings - Ganesha's favourite sweet - are prepared. Bali Tritiya follows as part of the Odia festival observances, marking further prayers and rituals. Devotees seek Lord Ganesha's blessings for new beginnings, success in their endeavours and the removal of obstacles from their path.
