About This Event
A rich introduction to Indian home cooking
Join Indian food connoisseur, cook and writer Bhavna Kalra for an informative and delicious cooking experience built around authentic Indian flavours and seasonal ingredients. This intensive but practical class is designed for foodies who love hearty Indian food and want the confidence to recreate it at home.
Whether you love ordering a curry, have always wanted to learn how to cook one properly, or simply enjoy wholesome, comforting Indian meals, this workshop offers a warm and accessible way into Indian cooking.
What you'll experience
Over four hours, participants will:
- Discover the food history behind the dishes being prepared
- Learn “Spices 1, 2, 3” — a valuable introduction to the spices needed for a hearty Indian meal and where to find them
- Practice Indian cooking techniques and pick up useful tips and tricks
- Sit down to enjoy a memorable seven-course Indian feast
The class aims to leave you with practical knowledge for preparing curries, dals and meat-based dishes more easily at home, while helping you become more confident with Indian spices and lentils that can also be used across other cuisines.
On the menu
Expect a generous spread featuring:
- Kadhai Chicken
- Mixed Lentils with spinach
- Chickpea curry
- Cashewnut & Saffron Pulao
- Cauliflower & Sweet potatoes
- Corn Raita / Beetroot Raita
- Mushroom Korma
- Mangalore Buns (Deep Fried Banana Bread)
Good to know
- This is not a 100% hands-on class
- Ingredients such as vegetables are pre-chopped, so there is minimal handling of common ingredients
- The course is suitable for people who are gluten intolerant, vegan, and/or vegetarian
- For private bookings, the menu can be adjusted to suit requirements
- Food intolerances can be accommodated with prior notice
This is a welcoming, flavour-filled class that combines storytelling, practical cooking knowledge and the joy of sharing a beautiful Indian meal.
