About This Event

About the Play

Khamosh Adalat Jaari Hai (Silence! The Court is in Session) is a powerful Hindi stage production that begins as a seemingly harmless mock trial among theatre actors and gradually unfolds into something far more unsettling and deeply personal.

As accusations emerge and the boundaries between performance and reality begin to dissolve, the courtroom transforms into a sharp mirror reflecting social judgment, gender bias, and the hidden cruelties embedded in society. What starts as a game becomes an emotionally charged confrontation with uncomfortable truths.

Why This Production Stands Out

Presented by Natyakala Indian Theatre Australia Inc., this production brings to Brisbane a rare and compelling live Hindi theatre experience. Originally written by legendary playwright Vijay Tendulkar, the play remains one of the most thought-provoking works in Indian theatre.

Attendees can look forward to:

  • Intense performances
  • Gripping, layered storytelling
  • A powerful exploration of truth, judgment, and societal norms
  • Impactful stage design
  • A rare opportunity to experience serious Hindi theatre live in Brisbane

A Must-Watch for Theatre Lovers

Following their acclaimed production of Aadhe Adhure, Natyakala Indian Theatre Australia returns with another emotionally resonant and intellectually engaging work. This is a production for audiences who appreciate bold storytelling, strong performances, and theatre that lingers long after the curtain falls.
