About This Event
Shri Shiva Vishnu Temple in Carrum Downs marks Aadi Pooram on Saturday 15 August 2026 with Shri Andal Thiru Kalyanam, the symbolic wedding of the saint-poet Andal to Lord Ranganatha. The temple's events calendar lists the Thiru Kalyanam in a 4:00pm to 6:00pm slot, and the temple's own Aadi Pooram flyer gives the kalyanam a 4:15pm start.
The full day of observances at the temple begins in the morning with Shri Andal Abishekam at 8:00am and Shri Visalakshi Ruthu Shanthi at 9:30am. In the late afternoon and evening the temple holds Shri Visalakshi Abhisekam at 5:30pm and Shri Visalakshi Laksharchana Poorthi at 7:00pm, which is followed by the Shri Visalakshi Rathothsavam, the chariot procession.
Aadi Pooram falls in the Tamil month of Aadi and celebrates the birth of Andal, the only woman among the twelve Alwars, whose Tiruppavai verses remain central to Tamil Vaishnavite devotion. Families and individuals of all ages are welcome and there is no entry charge. Sponsorship is available for all of the day's poojas; for sponsorship or any further detail the temple asks people to contact the temple manager on (03) 9782 0878. The temple is at 52 Boundary Road, Carrum Downs VIC 3201.
