About the Production
Faujdar Ghashiram is a Hindi musical theatre production by Khelaiya Productions, returning with an innovative staging concept that presents the work in the lively Nautanki style — a traditional musical theatre form from North India.
This adaptation of Vijay Tendulkar’s celebrated Ghashiram Kotwal pays tribute to North Indian culture through its regional customs, musical traditions, folk flavour, and theatrical energy. The production is designed to celebrate the richness of North Indian life while delivering a compelling and thought-provoking stage experience.
Story and Themes
Set in a fictional North Indian town, the play unfolds as a sharp satire on:
- social hierarchy
- the abuse of power
- the ongoing struggle between the regulator and the regulated
Through evocative music, folk influences, and the colourful performance language of Nautanki, the production captures the spirit and soul of North India in a way that is both culturally rooted and theatrically immersive.
