Ganesha Chathurthi, Maha Ganapathy Homam & Procession

Perth Hindu Temple marks Ganesha Chathurthi with a full day of worship on Monday 14 September 2026, opening at 6.30am and running through to 9.00pm. The temple's published programme begins in the morning with Nithya Abhishekam at 6.30am and Nithya Pooja at 7.00am, followed at 8.00am by the Sri Ganapathy Homam and a Special Abhishekam for Sri Vinayakar - the fire ritual and ceremonial bathing of the deity that are the centrepiece of the morning observance.

The morning concludes with Aarathi and the Distribution of Prasadhams at 11.30am, and Annadhanam (the free community meal offered to all devotees) from 12.00 noon.

The evening session is held with Special Alangkaram (special decoration of the deity). It opens at 6.00pm with Nithya Abhishekam for Sivan and Nithya Pooja at 6.30pm, followed at 7.00pm by Sri Vinayakar Thirusathi Archana. At 7.30pm the temple holds the Sri Vinayakar Procession and Visarjanam - the procession and ceremonial immersion that close the festival. The day ends with Aarathi and Distribution of Prasadhams at 8.45pm and Annadhanam at 9.00pm.
