About This Event
Join a three-hour hands-on Indian cooking workshop at Masala Kitchen Dee Why, led by Indian food connoisseur, cook and writer Bhavna Kalra of Modern Desi Co. The class suits complete beginners as well as seasoned cooks: you work through the history behind the dishes, the essential 'Spices 1, 2, 3' rundown on which spices you need and where to find them, and Bhavna's techniques, tips and tricks for getting them right at home.
The session runs 10:00am to 1:00pm on Sunday 30 August 2026 and finishes with a sit-down shared six-course Indian feast drawn from the restaurant menu - two to three curries such as chicken korma, plus palak paneer, beetroot raita, jeera rice, chana masala and cheese naan - served with a glass of Masala Kitchen's own gin as part of a gin tasting.
Tickets are $165 per person and include morning nibbles, all ingredients (vegetables and other components come pre-prepped), printed recipes to take home, the sit-down shared lunch and the gin tasting. Aprons are available to purchase separately. Note this is not a 100% hands-on class - it is part demonstration - but there are ample opportunities to cook. Gluten intolerance, vegan and vegetarian preferences are catered for. If the class ever needs to be rescheduled the organisers will notify ticket holders and offer alternative dates. The venue is Masala Kitchen, 26 Oaks Avenue, Dee Why NSW 2099.
