About This Event
Motta Maadi Music plays Adelaide for the first time, bringing its Breathless Tour to Star Theatres in Hilton. The Chennai group, founded by Badhri Seshadhri and now a nine-piece ensemble, built its name on rooftop (motta maadi) jam sessions where the audience does much of the singing rather than just watching, a format it has since taken to auditoriums across the UK, Europe, Dubai, Singapore, Malaysia and Australia. The Adelaide set is a run through nostalgic and contemporary Tamil film songs, billed by the band as an evening of high-energy music aimed squarely at the Adelaide Tamil community.
The show runs Friday 31 July 2026 from 6:30pm to 10:00pm. Star Theatres is at 145 Sir Donald Bradman Drive, Hilton, about five minutes from the city centre. The complex holds two fully equipped theatres and a rehearsal studio, with Theatre One seating up to 356, and there is a licensed bar serving drinks and snacks in the foyer that joins the two theatres. Free on-street parking is available in the side streets off Sir Donald Bradman Drive, within a three-minute walk. The venue can be reached on (08) 8234 1800.
Tickets were sold through TryBooking and the Adelaide show is now sold out. The only remaining option is the waitlist form on the TryBooking page, where you leave your name, email, phone number and the number of tickets you want; the organiser contacts you if seats are released. The same page carries a contact form for questions to the organiser and a resend-tickets tool. The Breathless Tour also plays Brisbane on 26 July, Sydney on 1 August and Melbourne on 2 August.
