MAQ Onam 2026 - Thakil Pukil

The Malayalee Association of Queensland (MAQ) Inc. presents its 2026 Onam celebration, billed in Malayalam as "തകില് പുകില് 2026" (Thakil Pukil 2026). The day starts at 9:00am on Saturday 15 August 2026 at the Lighthouse Community and Event Centre, 65 Woogaroo Street, Forest Lake QLD 4078, in Brisbane's south-west.

The celebration follows MAQ's usual Onam format of a day-long cultural programme and a traditional Onasadhya (the Onam feast served on a banana leaf). MAQ has run Onam at this Forest Lake venue in previous years.

Tickets are sold online through Book My Events and are tiered: member adult $35, non-member adult $40, children 5 to 10 years $25, visiting parents $30, and international students with a valid visa $30. Children up to 5 years enter free provided they do not require a separate seat. MAQ membership can be bought or renewed in the same checkout — family renewal $30, new family $35, individual renewal $20, new individual $25 — which is what unlocks the cheaper member ticket price. Tickets are emailed as a download link; save them to your phone or print them for scanning at the venue.
