About This Event
Smaranam brings memory to life in a Bharata Natyam performance by Vaidehi Subramanyan. It is a traditional margam repertoire that moves through Nritta (pure dance), Nritya (expressive storytelling) and Natya (dramatic enactment), tracing movement and lineage as a living practice.
Vaidehi is a Bharata Natyam dancer inspired by her grandmother, the late Thangamani Nagarajan, a senior dancer and teacher of Kalakshetra. She currently trains under renowned dancer Christopher Gurusamy, has performed extensively in India and Canberra, and is an artist in residence at Canberra Dance Theatre.
The one-hour performance is presented by The BOLD Festival, which celebrates the legacy of dance through intercultural and intergenerational programming.
