The year 2026 marks a profoundly significant cultural milestone - the 50th death anniversary of the Bengali Rebel Poet, Kazi Nazrul Islam. This moment is more than a commemoration; it is an invitation to revisit his timeless messages of humanity, equality and secularism, and to share them anew with a global generation.

To honour this historic year, the programme presents - for the first time in Australia - two of Kazi Nazrul Islam's remarkable works on a single stage: the one-act play Jhilimili and the musical drama Kaberi Tire. Guiding this artistic journey is an exceptional creative ensemble: renowned theatre director Brindaban Das, acclaimed Nazrul Sangeet artist Adila Noor, and celebrated choreographer Purabi Chowdhury.

Their shared vision brings Kazi Nazrul Islam's literature, music and dance to life in their purest essence, enriched with contemporary staging and modern performance aesthetics. All welcome. Running time 2.5 hours including a 20-minute interval.
