Raksha Bandhan Mahotsav 2026

Shree Sanatan Dharm Sabha NSW Inc invites families to the Raksha Bandhan Mahotsav 2026 at Shree Ram Krishna Mandir in Austral, on the evening of Friday 28 August 2026. The temple's poster carries the theme "Celebrating the Sacred Bond of Love, Protection & Dharma" and describes an evening in which every Raksha Sutra is a prayer for love, strength and lifelong blessings.

The published programme runs 7:00pm to 9:00pm. It opens at 7:00pm with a welcome, the lighting of the lamp and Ganesh Vandana. From 7:15pm there is Raksha Bandhan katha and bhajans, covering the story of Raksha Bandhan from the scriptures, the meaning of the Raksha Sutra in Sanatan Dharma, and devotional song. At 8:15pm the Vedic Raksha Sutra ceremony takes place: the pundits chant Vedic raksha mantras, tilak is applied, and every family receives a sanctified Raksha Sutra. Maha Arti follows at 8:45pm, and the evening closes with prasad and Maha Prasad.

Listed attractions are a complimentary rakhi for every sister, a raksha sutra sanctified by the temple pundits, a family photo booth, and a Best Brother-Sister feature.
