About This Event
Sakkare Inc. stages Huttadalli Hutta, a celebrated Kannada play by the pioneering playwright T. P. Kailasam, at The Parks Theatre in Angle Park. Kailasam, known for his sharp wit and social commentary, uses this classic work to explore the ambition and gullibility of a wealthy family during pre-independence days. The narrative humorously critiques society's obsession with status, delving into the chaos that ensues when status-seeking collides with naive ambition, and it remains a masterclass in comic timing and sharp, conversational Kannada dialogue. The play is performed in Kannada.
The performance runs on Saturday 1 August 2026 from 4:30pm to 7:30pm, a three-hour session. Gates close sharply at 5:00pm, so latecomers should not count on being admitted. An age restriction applies: children under 7 years of age will not be permitted to enter.
Tickets are $30 through Eventbrite. There is a single price tier and the listing carries a no-refunds policy; online sales close on the afternoon of the performance.
The venue is The Parks Theatre at 46 Cowan Street, Angle Park SA 5010, a YMCA-run performing arts venue in Adelaide's north-west. It has accessible car parking and a convenient drop-off point at the front, and can be contacted on (08) 8406 2951.
