Ilaiyaraaja Live in Concert — Melbourne 2026

Maestro Ilaiyaraaja — a Padma Vibhushan awardee, composer of more than 7,000 songs and scorer of over 1,400 films across Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi cinema — returns to Melbourne. A five-time National Film Award winner, the Isaignani revolutionised Indian film music by weaving Western classical orchestration through traditional Indian instruments, creating a sound that has carried across generations. He is joined on stage by S.P. Charan, Haricharan, Shwetha Menon, Gangai Amaran and other special guests for an evening of his timeless melodies.

The Palais Theatre publishes approximate running times for the evening performance: doors 5:00pm, show starts 6:00pm, show ends 9:30pm. Note the promoter has added a second, earlier performance on the same day — a matinee with doors at 12:00pm and a 1:00pm start, which goes on general sale Monday 3 August 2026 at 10:00am.

Seating is fully reserved, with no standing permitted in Lounge rows A to D. The Palais is a cashless venue; tickets can be collected from the box office from 30 minutes before doors, or scanned on entry. Bars are open from doors with food and drinks including soft drinks, snacks and ice creams, closing no later than 30 minutes before the end of the show. No video, audio or professional photography is permitted unless the promoter states otherwise. The venue's only authorised sellers are Ticketmaster and Ticketmaster Resale.
