About This Event
LEGACY is a grand celebration of Odissi — one of India’s eight classical dance traditions — staged at Darebin Arts Centre in Preston. Twenty Melbourne-based dancers perform alongside a distinguished live orchestra flown in from Odisha, India.
The production honours the contribution of Dr Chandrabhanu to Indian classical dance in Australia, and marks the 60th birthday of acclaimed Odissi vocalist and composer Krushna Chandra Ray. The programme moves through classical Odissi repertoire including intricate Pallavis and expressive Geeta Govinda abhinaya through to the powerful Navadurga and Dashamahavidya, and premieres a new choreography, Ravana Stotram.
This is the 7:00pm evening performance on Saturday 8 August 2026. A 2:00pm–4:00pm matinee runs earlier the same day, and the festival opened on 1 August. Tickets are sold through the Darebin Arts box office (03 8470 8282); prices are not published online.
