About This Event
The Ganapati Festival Melbourne returns to Monash University for a third year as the centrepiece of MBPC Australia's South Asian Arts & Culture Program 2026. It runs on Saturday 19 September 2026 from 12:00pm to 7:00pm at the Monash Sports Centre, Monash University, Clayton, and entry is free and open to all — no ticket or registration is required to attend.
The programme includes Ganapati Darshan and Maha Aarti, Dhol Pathak and Tutari performances, cultural performances and dance showcases, multicultural food and market stalls, and family and youth activities. The centrepiece is a 5-foot-plus replica of Pune's Dagdusheth Halwai Ganapati. Organisers expect more than 4,000 attendees and over 250 performers, artists and young participants, making it their largest Monash celebration yet.
The venue is wheelchair accessible and has on-site parking, a bar, and public transport access — Monash Clayton is served by frequent bus routes from Huntingdale and Clayton stations. Registration, stall bookings, sponsorship, and performer and volunteer details were still to be announced at the time of checking. 0404 803 824. Organised by MBPC Australia Inc. hosted at Monash University.
